We take a look at nine dogs that are currently looking for their forever home at the RSPCA York, Harrogate and District branch…

1. Newt
Newt is a two-year-old Large Crossbreed who is a sweet but shy boy that came to the centre via an inspector. Newt was rescued from appalling conditions after he was found living in a squalid property along with a few other dogs. He has come such a long way from the traumatised dog that arrived in the van. The staff have even had to teach him how to play as he was even scared of toys when he first arrived. Newt will need understanding adopters who will give him the time and patience he needs to settle in to a home. He loves to lean in to his people and get cuddles which helps him feel secure. 2. Dave
Dave is a five-year-old Greyhound who came to the centre after his racing days came to an end. Dave is a sweet and elegant ex-racing greyhound ready to trade the track for a cosy retirement. Whilst he can run fast when he gets the zoomies, he is much better known as a professional 18-hour-a-day couch potato. He is gentle and affectionate and looking for a calm, patient family to show him what home life is all about. One of Dave's most favourite things in the world is sharing a sofa with his people getting lots of TLC. Photo: RSPCA

3. Snoopy
Snoopy is a six-year-old Sharpei Cross who is a sweet boy that came to the centre via a dog warden as an unclaimed stray. Snoopy is a lovely boy who has settled well at the centre after being a little scared initially. He has quickly come out of his shell and has proved to be a lovely natured boy. Snoopy walks well on the lead and is very well behaved when out and about. Snoopy loves his food and cuddles. He can also be a little independent and take himself off for some time out when he feels like some quiet time. Snoopy is a great little dog who will make a fantastic addition to the family. 4. Milo
Milo is a three-year-old French Bulldog who is a very sweet little lad whose previous owner sadly became unwell and had to make the difficult decision to let him find a new family who will love him and give him a second chance of happiness. Milo is a friendly lad but unfortunately has not experienced much of the outside world recently so can be quite unsure and become a little overwhelmed. Staff at the centre have been working on slowly building his confidence at his own pace and Milo has come on in leaps and bounds. Milo loves being with his people and loves to sit on the sofa with you and snuggle in for cuddles. Milo really is a smashing little dog who will make a wonderful friend for someone. Photo: RSPCA
