A MAJOR supermarket chain is to open a new store in Ryedale this week.
Aldi is set to open in Norton on Thursday, October 8, at 8am.
The new store will be run by Store Manager Fiona Piercy, along with a team of 22 colleagues from the local community.
The new store will offer fresh, British meat products with weekly offers, Aldi’s award-winning Specially Selected range, exclusive Beers, Wines and Spirits, and a Food to Go section at the front of the store.

As Aldi has been fuelling Team GB with fresh, healthy food since 2015 through monthly vouchers, Fiona Piercy and her team will be joined by Olympic bronze medallist Chelsie Giles to celebrate the store opening by cutting the all-important ribbon on opening morning.
Chelsie will also give away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s famous Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.
Aldi Store Manager Fiona said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Norton. It’s set to be a special day and having Olympic hero Chelsie Giles join us will make it a morning to remember.”
Judo star Chelsie added: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Team GB.”
The supermarket, which currently has 1,092 stores, will open or relocate nearly 30 stores over the next 10 weeks.
Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer for Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “We’re working hard to make good food more affordable for every family – cutting prices on everyday essentials, signing long-term supplier agreements to help increase home-grown production, and continuing to bring affordable groceries to even more communities through our store opening programme.
“This is why more customers are buying more products at Aldi – our relentless focus on simple, everyday low prices and award-winning quality.”
The new Aldi store is also calling on local charities and food banks in Malton to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.
Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, seven days a week. Any charities in the area that would like to partner up with the new Aldi store should email aldi@neighbourly.com.
The new store will be located at 27 Commercial Street, Norton, YO17 9HX and will be open, Monday - Saturday, 8am to 10pm and
Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
