Thousands of runners are gearing up to hit the Yorkshire coast for a day of racing.

Scarborough will host the McCain Yorkshire Coast events on Sunday, October 11, with the 10K and Fun Run already fully booked and only a limited number of places left for the 5K.

Open to runners of all ages and abilities, the event offers a mix of competition and fun, set against the backdrop of Scarborough’s seaside scenery.

Tristan Batley-Kyle, operations director at organiser Run For All, said: "We're looking forward to welcoming thousands of runners to Scarborough for what promises to be another fantastic McCain Yorkshire Coast event.

"It's brilliant to see both the 10K and Fun Run sell out once again, with only a small number of places remaining in the 5K.

"The continued popularity of the event is a testament to the incredible support we receive from participants, volunteers, partners, and the local community.

"Whether people are aiming for a personal best, fundraising for a cause close to their heart or simply enjoying the experience, we wish everyone the very best of luck and hope they have an unforgettable day on the Yorkshire coast."

The 10K race begins and ends at Scarborough Spa, taking runners around South Bay, past the harbour, around the headland, and into North Bay.

The route also passes through the Open Air Theatre before returning to the Spa for the finish.

The 5K will start shortly after the main race at 10.05am, with the Fun Run following at 11.30am.

A whole morning of running and community spirit is expected along the Yorkshire coast.

The event is designed to be inclusive and welcoming, whether runners choose to walk, jog, or run.

In line with Run For All’s commitment to making running accessible, everyone is encouraged to take part at their own pace.

Participants will receive a slate medal at the finish line, and a tree will be planted on their behalf in partnership with McCain Foods.

Runners are also encouraged to raise funds for a charity of their choice, or one of the event’s partner charities.

Andrew Hoff, managing director at McCain GB&I, said: "As a business with deep roots in Scarborough, it's fantastic to see runners of all ages and abilities embracing the opportunity to challenge themselves, connect with their local community, and enjoy everything this iconic coastal event has to offer.

"We wish all those participating good luck with the race."

With just days to go and limited places remaining in the 5K, organisers are encouraging anyone still hoping to take part to register as soon as possible.
