A warehouse-based events venue could host weddings, music and sports if a licence is granted by the council.

Vault is seeking permission to operate as a multi-use premises at an industrial unit on Royds Farm Road in Holbeck.

Forbidden Festival Europe Master Ltd has applied to Leeds City Council for alcohol sales and entertainment inside until 1am.

A premises licence could also allow for music and drinks sales at a limited number of outdoor events each year.

A council licensing report said: “The premises intend to operate as a multi-purpose venue for events including corporate functions, live entertainment, exhibitions, weddings and sporting events.

“Outdoor licensable activities are proposed to take place between 10am and 11pm each day, with extended outdoor operations until 1am on no more than eight occasions per calendar year.”

A letter of objection raised concerns over the possible impact on the surrounding area.

It said: “Sound from patrons drinking outside, raised voices and music will directly impact neighbouring properties.”

The report said measures to prevent public disorder had been agreed with the council and West Yorkshire Police.

They included CCTV, an incident register and a “check 25” policy, along with staff training and bag searches.

A police report said: “There will be no admittance to under 18’s for any live electronic music events or football events.

“For all other events, children under 16 years of age shall only be allowed on the premises in the company of an adult.”

Licence conditions to prevent noise nuisance and littering were also proposed by the council’s environmental health team.

Their report said: “Noise from a licensable activity at the premises will not be audible at the nearest noise sensitive premises after 11pm. There shall be no external loudspeakers after 11pm.”

Councillors will consider the licence application at a hearing at Leeds Civic Hall on Tuesday, October 13.

A licensing sub-committee will have the option of granting or refusing the licence, or allowing it with additional conditions.
