A post-16 teaching block and hospitality suite could be created at a sports ground if plans are agreed with the council.

Classrooms and match-day facilities have been designed for FC Farsley under a new planning application.

Leeds City Council has been asked to approve a new two-storey building at the Newlands ground.

Education charity LS-TEN would teach youngsters at the site if the scheme goes ahead.

A planning report said: “The ground floor classrooms and first floor meeting room will support the delivery of this service.

“Students will also have access to existing facilities within the sports complex, including toilets, changing facilities, the sports hall and café.”

The report said education activities would be held between 8.45am and 4.30pm during term times. Extra weekday sessions would also be held during school holidays.

The report said: “Attendance will comprise no more than 15 students per day, with four to five staff on site at any one time.”

Eight modular cabin units would be stacked to form the two-storey facility, with two classrooms at ground floor level and the hospitality suite on the first floor.

The project would include an external staircase and viewing platform for supporters of the club.

The report said: “This will provide a space for spectators to watch training and matches and have light refreshments.

“Use during weekday evening training will take place between 6pm and 10pm, with additional use on Saturday and Sunday match days.”

Leeds City Council is considering a full planning application which is out for consultation until October 19.

The facilities would be created within the existing sports complex, which includes the main pitch and stands, a training pitch, a sports centre and clubhouse.

The report said: “The shared first-floor accommodation will be used for education and football hospitality at separate times.

“LS-TEN and FC Farsley will coordinate the timetable and management of the space, including supervision, visitor access and handover between uses.”
