Emergency services were called to Borough Road around 11.20am on Tuesday (October 6), when a car came off the road, striking a bollard and the front of the building.

Staff at Funky Fidgets and T.W.S Security heard a loud bang as the car hit the building. Pictures seen by the Echo from inside the security company's office showed the wall bowed where the car hit, while workers were sat just feet away.

Police said there were no reported injuries, while damage to the building is being assessed.

Melissa Brunskill, who owns Funky Fidgets, was livestreaming from upstairs when the crash happened, with staff and customers inside the shop.

She said: “I had staff downstairs and a team with me upstairs on live and we heard a bang.

"We rushed downstairs and called 999. We had some customers - a mother and a teenage boy - who were in when it happened.”

One of her staff added: "It could have been so much worse. We usually have a huge queue out the door."

Funky Fidgets Shop Ltd confirmed the store is closed until further notice.
