Harrogate employer unites workforce to support local causes
Harrogate firm’s workforce volunteer with charities
Employees from Harrogate-based leading ventilation manufacturer envirovent stepped away from their usual roles last week to volunteer with charities and community groups across Yorkshire, as part of the company’s annual In It Together Day.

Held on Friday 25 September, the initiative saw colleagues from across the 285-strong business spend half a day supporting local organisations, including Yorkshire Cancer Research, Saint Michael's Hospice, and Harrogate Sea Cadets, through a range of practical volunteering activities.

The community day formed part of envirovent’s wider contribution to Harrogate and the surrounding area, which also includes supporting local skills development and routes into the electrical and building services sectors.
From next year, the company will sponsor a dedicated training space at Harrogate College.
It is also currently supporting three employees through full electrical apprenticeships, helping colleagues develop industry skills while working towards recognised qualifications.
The company was also named in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026 earlier this year.
Across its workforce, 76 per cent of employees expressed confidence in management, compared with an industry average of 40 per cent, while overall employee happiness was recorded at 76 per cent.

Andy Makin, Managing Director at envirovent, said: "Harrogate is our home, so it is important to us that our contribution to the area goes beyond the work we do as a business.
“Our In It Together Day gives colleagues the opportunity to provide practical support to organisations doing valuable work across Yorkshire.
“From supporting young people through groups such as Olicana Scout Group, Birk Crag Girlguiding and Harrogate Sea Cadets, to helping charities including Saint Michael’s Hospice, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Harrogate Neighbours and Horticap, our teams are able to contribute their time to causes that make a real difference across the region.
“Alongside the ongoing support we provide to organisations such as Friends of Harrogate Hospital and Saint Michael’s Hospice throughout the year, it was fantastic to spend time working directly with community groups and charities and see first-hand the impact they have on local people."
