A new stage adaptation of the classic sitcom Dinnerladies is heading to York.
The show will be performed at the Grand Opera House from February 23 to 27, 2027.
Written, created, and originally starring Victoria Wood, the sitcom ran for two series between 1998 and 2000 and was set in the canteen of a fictional Manchester factory, HWD Components.
Les Dennis will star as maintenance man Stan in the stage version, alongside Sue Cleaver as Jean and Karen Henthorn as Dolly.
Ms Cleaver said: "I am beyond thrilled to be joining the cast of dinnerladies on tour: I was honoured to have a regular role on the show itself and to work alongside the legendary Victoria Wood many moons ago, so it’s an absolute joy to be returning to play such a fantastic character as feisty Jean.
"I cannot wait to get out on the road and whip up a storm in the kitchen alongside such a stellar cast."
Amy Drake will take on the role of Deputy Canteen Manager Bren, originally played by Victoria Wood.
The new adaptation, featuring Victoria Wood’s inimitable dialogue, has been commissioned by the Victoria Wood Estate and is adapted by Beth and Emma Kilcoyne.
