A York-based Anglo-Saxon expert is set to give a talk in Pocklington.
Alex Harvey, a trustee of Pocklington District Heritage Trust, will discuss 'Little Kingdoms of Yorkshire: Post-Roman Pocklington & Beyond' at Burnby Hall.
A graduate of York University, Mr Harvey has a degree in Medieval Archaeology and spent three years at the Yorkshire Museum.
He is now a history teacher at Tadcaster Grammar School.
As an author, he has penned three books on the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons, with another forthcoming.
His popular 2025 publication, 'Little Kingdoms. An A-Z of early medieval Britain', explores a time before the creation of England, Wales, and Scotland, when the British Isles were divided into numerous individual realms.
Mr Harvey's Pocklington talk will focus on Yorkshire's history during this period after the Roman army's departure from Britain.
The talk is scheduled for Friday, October 30, at 7.30pm in Burnby Hall Community Hall.
Tickets, priced at £5, can be purchased from RM English, Railway Street, Pocklington, or via Eventbrite.
Proceeds from the event will go towards the Pocklington District Museum Project.
The talk is expected to provide fascinating insights into a turbulent and transformative period in Yorkshire's history.
