Night of poetry, music and comedy heading to York Theatre Royal

The Say Owt Showcase is heading to York Theatre Royal on October 23.

A night of poetry, music and comedy is heading to the stage in York.

The Say Owt Showcase, described as an evening that veers "from the righteous to the raucous", will take place at York Theatre Royal on October 23.

The show will feature unique sets from the four artists behind Say Owt: Hannah Davies, Stu Freestone, Jarmouse and Henry Raby.

A slam is an energetic competition where judges in the audience score the poets, and a winner is crowned at the end of the night.

Mr Raby, artistic director of Say Owt, said: "We’re delighted to be back at York Theatre Royal.

"Earlier this year, we put on a packed-out performance with legend Harry Baker.

"It’s nice to return to a smaller, intimate space to give the audience our best sets."

Say Owt has spent more than 10 years bringing the best and newest talent from across the poetry and spoken word scene.

The group is known for its high-energy nights of words and verse, bringing together poets, musicians, spoken word artists, rappers and anyone with a story to tell.

The Say Owt Showcase forms part of the Old Paint Shop programme at York Theatre Royal.
