RAIL passengers in York and North Yorkshire are being warned to expect disruption across three days this month as train conductors plan to take strike action.
TransPennine Express services across its network will be affected by industrial action from members of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers union (RMT) planned for October 11, 18 and 25, the train operator has said.
The train operator provides key services which pass through York including routes to Scarborough, Newcastle, Manchester Airport and Liverpool.
A union spokesperson said planned industrial action for yesterday (Sunday, October 4) was suspended for further talks after the company agreed to return to productivity negotiations.
A spokesperson for National Rail said: "There is industrial action planned to take place that will affect TransPennine Express services on most Sundays throughout October.
"Trains across the TransPennine network will be running to a reduced timetable with cancellations likely, on these three Sundays.
"Passengers are advised to travel on the affected dates only if their journey is essential.
"Trains on all the affected dates will run to a significantly reduced timetable."
"Trains that do run will be subject to disruption and are expected to be very busy."
On Friday (October 2) RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey said that the union will remain in dispute until a satisfactory agreement can be reached with the employer.
