Updated: York bridge reopens after police incident

A York bridge was closed by a police incident again tonight (Monday).

Fire crews and paramedics were also on Ouse Bridge.

It was taped off from the steps down to Queen’s Staith. Road traffic and pedestrians were being diverted away.

The York Rescue Boat team were in the water close to the bridge.

It is believed to be a vulnerable person on the wrong side of the bridge wall.

The incident has now been brought to a safe conclusion and Ouse Bridge has reopened.

It’s the second time in three nights the bridge has been closed in similar circumstances.

On Saturday night, emergency services responded to a report of concern for the welfare of a teenage girl. This incident was brought to a safe conclusion.
