Police and local residents took an unusual approach to tackling speeding drivers on a Bradford road.

Officers from the Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team joined members of the community on Fernhill Road following concerns about speeding vehicles and reckless driving in the area.

Residents raise concerns

The initiative was launched after residents reported ongoing issues with motorists ignoring the 20mph speed limit.

Police and volunteers worked together to monitor vehicles passing through the area as part of a Community Speedwatch operation aimed at improving road safety.

Balloons grab drivers' attention

Drivers passing through the area were met by an eye-catching display of brightly coloured balloons designed to draw attention to the speedwatch activity and reinforce the road's 20mph limit.

A spokesperson for the force said: "The brightly coloured display was there to grab attention and remind motorists of the 20mph speed limit.

"Safe to say it was a little harder to miss than the speed signs some drivers seem to have been overlooking!"

Police thanked local residents who gave up their time to support the operation.
