A woman has been jailed for 12 weeks for breaching a domestic abuse protection order (DAPO).

Danielle Parkes was arrested when police were called to a disturbance at a block of flats in Middlesbrough.

Parkes, 40, was issued with the six-month DAPO in January to protect her brother, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor Shaun Dryden said: "The police received a call from a security guard that there was a disturbance at the flat.

"When the police got there, she told them that she shouldn't have been there and held her hands up and said - 'I know I'm not allowed there'."

Parkes, of Almond Court, Middlesbrough, admitted breaching the order on May 13.

A more serious charge of attempted wounding with intent was dropped after the prosecution offered no evidence.

Mr Dryden said Parkes had breached the order on two previous occasions.

Defence barrister Lee Goodchild urged the judge to consider Parkes' guilty plea when sentencing her.

Judge Richard Bennett jailed Parkes for 12 weeks but ordered her immediate release because she had already spent that time in custody.

He said: "You were made subject to the order to prevent you having any contact with your brother.

"You were with your brother and involved in a disturbance. You were initially charged with a much more serious offence which has been discontinued recently."
