A LONG-STANDING York city centre shop has added new items to its closing down sale.
TG Jones, formerly known as WHSmith, has revealed that it will be selling off equipment as part of the closing down sale for its Coney Street shop
The shop, which also contains the city’s main post office, will close on October 19.
Posters in the window of the shop, which state everything must go, now say that all fixtures and fittings from within the shop (aside from IT equipment) are also for sale and that prospective buyers should speak to staff.
Prices range from £5 for a metal rack to £800 for chiller fridges, with cabinets, chairs, gondolas, and other items also up for grabs.
Reductions have also been slashed on the store's stock to at least 20 per cent on most items.
As reported by The Press last month, the TG Jones brand has secured court approval for a major restructuring, which is expected to lead to the closure of around 150 stores and affect hundreds of jobs.
Shops across the country have revealed that they are set to close, with banners in the window of the Coney Street shop reading “Store Closing Down” and “Everything Must Go”.

Speaking to The Press last month, a Post Office spokesperson added: “We fully recognise the challenging trading conditions that TG Jones and many other high street retailers are facing at the moment.
"TG Jones had its restructuring plan approved by the High Court on 1 July, which includes seeking new commercial terms with landlords for the majority of their estate.
"Consequently, TG Jones is looking to close their York store. Regrettably, York Post Office is due to close on Wednesday 14 October.
“We know how important our products and services are to the local community. We want to open a replacement branch as soon as possible. This can take around six months to re-open a replacement branch."
The nearest Post Offices in York city centre are Micklegate and Colliergate.
A spokesperson for TG Jones said: "As part of our work to secure the long-term future of TG Jones, we have confirmed that our York store will close.
"We appreciate this will be disappointing news for our colleagues, customers and the local community. Our priority now is on supporting those affected colleagues while continuing to serve our customers until the store closes.
"We would like to thank our colleagues in York for their valued contribution to TG Jones."
