A spate of shoplifting offences has led to multiple arrests and charges.

Neighbourhood officers in Greater Eston, east Cleveland, made the arrests in connection with a series of thefts from shops across the area, with three of the suspects now remanded in custody.

One of those charged, a 31-year-old man, faces more than a dozen charges.

He is also accused of assault after reportedly kicking both a store worker and a PCSO during his arrest at Cleveland Retail Park on Wednesday, September 30.

A 36-year-old woman who had been banned from entering a shop in Bankfields was reported to have entered the store twice in one day and once the day before, when 35 cans of energy drinks were reported to have been stolen.

She was arrested, interviewed about several thefts, and later charged with four counts of theft and breach of bail.

Cleveland Police also responded to reports of a “ransacking” at a small shop on Bankfields Road on Saturday, September 26, leading to the arrest of two men, aged 40 and 41, on October 1.
