Everything you need to know about new Our Farm Next Door series with Amanda Owen

Everything you need to know about Our Farm Next Door series four, including its start date, Anty John's, Ravenseat and the Owen children.

Amanda Owen, Clive Owen and their children are returning to television as cameras follow another eventful year at Ravenseat and Anty John's.

The fourth series of Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids will see the Owen family take some of their biggest steps yet towards transforming centuries-old Anty John's into a family home.

But the renovation is only part of what viewers can expect.

The new episodes will follow life at Ravenseat from Christmas through a harsh Swaledale winter and into the busy spring lambing season, while several of Amanda and Clive's children face important milestones of their own.

There will also be new arrivals following the death of the family's beloved dog Chalky, a trip to Beamish Museum, more discoveries about the people who once lived at Anty John's and, eventually, the family's first night inside their new home.

Here is everything you need to know about the new series of Our Farm Next Door.

When does the new series of Our Farm Next Door start?

Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids returns for its fourth series on Monday, October 5.

The first episode will air on More4 at 9pm. Current television listings confirm the opening episode begins on Christmas Day at Ravenseat before moving into the snowy New Year.

The programme follows Amanda Owen, former husband Clive and their nine children as they combine life at Ravenseat with the enormous project of restoring neighbouring Anty John's.

Channel 4 commissioned the third and fourth series together after the programme's earlier success, with Leeds-based Wise Owl Films continuing to make the show.

When was Our Farm Next Door series four filmed?

Although the episodes are only now coming to television, the action viewers will see happened several months ago.

Information shared by Wise Owl Films, the production company behind the series, says the fourth run was filmed "across Winter 2025 and Spring 2026".

That gives the new series a clear journey through the seasons.

It will begin with Christmas at Ravenseat, take the family through the difficult winter months and finish in spring.

By then, lambing will be under way and Anty John's will have reached one of the most significant moments of the entire restoration.

What happens at Anty John's in the new series?

Anty John's remains at the centre of the programme as the huge renovation enters its third year.

The centuries-old farmhouse has already undergone extensive work as Amanda and her family attempt to bring the isolated building back into use.

This time, however, viewers should notice a significant difference.

After years in which much of the work has been structural, the focus is increasingly moving inside.

Wise Owl Films said: "With the Swaledale farmhouse's plastered walls finally dry, work inside the centuries-old building can move on."

That means floorboards can arrive, painting can begin and individual rooms can start looking increasingly like part of a home rather than a building site.

Furniture which Amanda has collected over the years will also begin finding its way into the farmhouse.

Clive and the Owen children will once again help with the work.

The progress follows several years of painstaking renovation in an exposed part of the Yorkshire Dales where weather and access have frequently complicated the project.

Channel 4 previously described the project as transforming the derelict property into a modern home, while continuing to preserve the story and character of the historic building.

Will Anty John's finally have running water?

One of the biggest jobs in the fourth series has nothing to do with paint, furniture or decorating.

The Owens will attempt to bring a piped water supply across the moors and into Anty John's.

Wise Owl Films describes it as "one of the project's most significant milestones".

It is another reminder of the realities of restoring such an isolated building.

The family is not simply renovating rooms inside an existing conventional home – it is having to deal with some of the basic infrastructure needed to make the old farmhouse properly habitable.

And the timing does not help.

The work takes place during a harsh winter, with the Swaledale weather adding another challenge as the Owens attempt to get water into the house.

Running water was one of the major areas Channel 4 said would feature when it commissioned the latest two series of the programme.

What happens in episode one?

The opening episode takes viewers back to Christmas Day 2025.

The Owen family will be together at Ravenseat opening presents before sitting down for their Christmas dinner.

As Christmas gives way to the New Year, heavy snow transforms the Swaledale landscape.

But work at Anty John's continues.

With the plaster finally dry, Amanda and her eldest son Miles begin painting the walls of the farmhouse.

The first episode will also delve further into the history of the Clarkson family connected with Anty John's, while poor weather causes more difficulties on the farm.

Current listings also tease unexpected arrivals for the Owen children following the loss of Chalky.

What happens at Ravenseat in the new series?

Despite the increasing focus on getting Anty John's ready to live in, Ravenseat remains a major part of the programme.

Wise Owl Films makes clear that "life at Ravenseat carries on as usual".

The programme follows the family from Christmas Day through to the Easter lambing season.

Amanda, Clive and their children continue to deal with the everyday demands of their huge flock of sheep.

There are also cows, goats, horses and ponies, peacocks and chickens to look after.

That distinction between the two properties is important.

Anty John's (Image: CHANNEL 4)

Anty John's is moving closer towards becoming the family's new home, but Ravenseat continues to be the centre of much of their farming life.

There has been no suggestion in the information released about the fourth series that the family is simply walking away from Ravenseat when Anty John's becomes habitable.

Instead, viewers will see the renovation continuing alongside the familiar work of running the farm.

What happens after the death of Chalky?

The new series will also pick up after the death of one of the family's best-loved animals.

Chalky had long been part of life at Ravenseat, and his death was a particularly sad moment for the Owens.

But the fourth series will bring some new additions.

Wise Owl Films said: "Following the passing of their beloved dog Chalky, there's some new four-legged additions to the farm causing chaos and keeping all the family on their toes."

The advance series information does not reveal exactly what all of those arrivals are.

However, viewers will not have to wait long to see the family's reaction, with unexpected newcomers set to appear in the opening episode.

What are Amanda Owen's children doing in the new series?

The changing lives of Amanda and Clive's children will be another major theme.

Viewers originally got to know all nine siblings through Our Yorkshire Farm, when many were still very young.

Several are now old enough to be following paths and taking on responsibilities of their own.

Wise Owl Films says that as the new year begins, the Owen children "continue to forge their own" and very different paths.

Three of the younger siblings are specifically highlighted.

What is Nancy Owen doing now?

Youngest daughter Nancy still has two markedly different ambitions.

Wise Owl Films says she "still dreams of becoming a ballerina as well as a farmer".

Nancy has grown up surrounded by livestock and farm work at Ravenseat, but her continuing interest in ballet gives viewers another glimpse at life beyond the family's farming world.

She will also be involved in plans for the interior of Anty John's alongside her sisters.

What is Edith Owen doing now?

Edith is preparing for an important period in her education as she gets ready for key exams.

But she will also take on a distinctly Ravenseat responsibility.

Wise Owl Films says Edith is preparing to take "the reins of the farm's cream tea van for passing walkers".

The van serves people passing through the remote part of Swaledale and gives Edith a role of her own around the farm.

Her sisters are also expected to help with preparations as it gets ready for the season.

What happens with Sid Owen?

Sid is approaching an important farming milestone.

The new series will follow him as he faces his tractor test.

Passing will allow him to take on increased responsibility around Ravenseat.

It is another sign of how much the younger Owen children have grown since viewers first saw them on Our Yorkshire Farm.

Rather than simply following Amanda and Clive as they work, the children are increasingly becoming directly involved in the running of the farm themselves.

Is Miles Owen in the new series?

Yes.

Miles is among the older Owen children expected to feature, and he appears prominently in the opening episode.

The episode synopsis shows him working alongside Amanda after the plaster inside Anty John's has finally dried.

Mother and son begin painting the walls as the renovation moves into its next phase.

Miles and Clive are also expected to contend with problems caused by the winter weather.

Why do Amanda Owen and the children visit Beamish Museum?

One of the family's trips away from Ravenseat in the new series will take them to Beamish Museum in County Durham.

It is not simply a day out.

Amanda and the children are looking for inspiration for an unusual feature they want inside Anty John's.

Wise Owl Films says they visit Beamish "to draw inspiration for a cupboard bed that the younger girls are keen for joiner Philip to build in their new home".

A cupboard or box bed is an enclosed style of bed associated with historic homes, where the sleeping area is built partly or fully into wooden panelling or furniture.

The idea fits with Amanda's interest in giving Anty John's a connection to its past rather than simply stripping out its historic character and replacing everything with modern interiors.

Who was Anthony Clarkson?

The history of Anty John's will continue to become an increasingly important part of the programme.

Amanda has been researching the people connected with the property rather than concentrating solely on its physical restoration.

The fourth series will see her uncover more about Anthony Clarkson, his wife Mally and their children.

Wise Owl Films describes their story as part of the "fascinating and moving history behind Anty John's".

Amanda will also consider the parallels between the Clarksons' lives and those of the Owens.

It adds another dimension to the programme: while one family brings the old house back to life in the present day, Amanda is simultaneously trying to understand the family who once occupied it.

Channel 4 previously said Amanda's research into the house's history and Anthony Clarkson would continue alongside the restoration.

Will Amanda Owen and Clive Owen both be in the new series?

Yes.

The programme remains titled Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, with both Amanda and Clive continuing to feature.

Amanda and Clive announced their separation in 2022, but they have continued to work together in areas of their family and farming life.

The new series will again show Clive helping with the Anty John's project and continuing life at Ravenseat alongside Amanda and their children.

Wise Owl Films specifically says that "Clive and the Owen children are there to give a helping hand every step of the way" as work on the farmhouse continues.

Their joint appearance in the series should not, however, be taken as suggesting any announced change in their relationship status.

The programme focuses on their family, farming and the enormous restoration project they remain involved in together.

Do Amanda Owen and the family finally stay at Anty John's?

Eventually, yes, and it looks set to be one of the biggest moments of the fourth series.

After years of work, Amanda and some of her daughters will finally prepare to spend a night inside Anty John's.

Wise Owl Films has described the occasion as a "never-to-be-forgotten day".

The production company said: "The series ends in the height of Spring with a never-to-be-forgotten day as Amanda and the girls prepare for their first sleepover at Anty John's."

How close Amanda Owen's Anty John's farmhouse really is to Ravenseat Farm
Who will live at Anty John's when Amanda Owen's farmhouse facelift is complete?

It does not necessarily mean every part of the restoration is complete.

But after years in which the farmhouse has been a construction project, sleeping there represents one of the clearest signs so far that Anty John's is finally becoming somewhere the family can call home.

How many episodes are in Our Farm Next Door series four?

The fourth series is expected to consist of five hour-long episodes.

Channel 4 announced in 2025 that Wise Owl Films had been commissioned to make a further ten hours of Our Farm Next Door, divided into two five-part series – series three and series four.

The latest run therefore continues the five-episode format used by the programme.

Where can I watch Our Farm Next Door?

The new series begins on More4 at 9pm on Monday, October 5.

The programme is part of the Channel 4 family of shows, with previous episodes also available through Channel 4's streaming service.

The new episodes will follow Amanda, Clive and their children from the depths of a Swaledale winter into spring.

For Anty John's in particular, it looks set to be a significant series.

The farmhouse viewers first saw as an enormous restoration challenge is finally moving into a very different stage – with dry plaster, paint, floors, furniture, running water and, eventually, members of the Owen family sleeping under its roof for the first time.
