ALLERTON Lane is set to close temporarily for street lighting works.

The closure will be in effect from Old Road to Beck Bridge Lane beginning October 5 at 8am, and is expected to last until October 23 at 6pm.

The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council announced the closure, citing the necessity for the works to be carried out.

Pedestrian access will remain open throughout the duration of the works.

Traffic will be diverted via an alternative route, including parts of Allerton Lane not affected by the closure, Cote Lane, Allerton Road, Saffron Drive, Bell Dean Road, Thornton Road, School Green, and Old Road.

The council has indicated that vehicles involved in the street lighting works will be exempt from the prohibition.

While the closure is expected to last until October 23, the order can remain in force for up to 18 months if necessary.

The announcement was made on October 1.
