A driver who pulled across the path of two HGVs travelling at more than 90mph on the A1(M) has been handed penalty points and a fine.

The shocking manoeuvre was captured by one of North Yorkshire Police's safety camera vehicles on the A1(M) at Junction 48, near Boroughbridge on 9 January this year.

It has now been shared by the police force as part of a warning for drivers to travel sensibly on the roads of the region.

The driver, Gregory Wickens, 34, of St Johns Road, Harrogate, was charged with driving without due care and attention, and speeding.

"Our safety camera vehicles can capture offences like this, ensuring that drivers who put others at risk are held to account for their actions."
