A family-run bakery inspired by life on a Greek island is bringing authentic Mediterranean flavours to Teesside.
The Greek Spot opened on Dundas Street earlier this year, with a mission to bring a genuine taste of Greece to Middlesbrough.
Brothers Aimiliano and Mikael Vangeli founded the bakery and café after growing up on the Greek island of Paros, before moving to the UK and settling in the North East in 2021.

When the bakery opened, Aimiliano said the aim was to create something "definitely authentically Greek, not Greek-style" in the heart of Middlesbrough.
Calling itself "Greek to the bone", the bakery uses family recipes and traditional methods, including hand-stretched phyllo and warm baklava soaked in syrup.
Bougatsa, a traditional Greek custard pastry, is among the Greek Spot’s most popular treats, alongside spanakopita, tiropita, portokalopita, kataifi nests and milopita.
The café also serves speciality Greek coffees, including freddo espresso and Greek frappé, as well as sandwiches and baguettes made using ingredients such as feta, Kalamon olives, oregano and Greek olive oil.
Everything on the counter is baked fresh each morning, so popular items often sell out before the day ends.

In the evenings, the business looks beyond pastries and coffee with gyros, chicken gyros and skepasti available through delivery services.
Just a short walk from Centre Square, the Cleveland Centre and Teesside University, the bakery has added a different flavour to Middlesbrough's growing independent food scene while staying true to its Greek roots.
Visitors can find The Greek Spot at 41 Dundas Street in Middlesbrough town centre.
