Russell and Bromley

As we’ve previously reported, footwear retailer Russell and Bromley entered administration in January before being acquired by Next in a £2.5m transaction. Despite this, a number of shops were still embarked for closure - the branch of Russell and Bromley at Victoria Gate being one of them.
A closing down sale took place ahead of the branch shutting. A statement has been released.
“All stores that did not transfer to Next as part of that transaction closed on or before April 23, 2026,” the joint administrators said in a statement. “Regrettably, these closures mean that the majority of employees working in the non‑transferring stores have been made redundant.”
The Leeds city centre branch of Russell and Bromley has now closed.

We’ve previously brought you plans for the Leeds branch of Hip shutting alongside the Manchester shop. The Hip Store has now been replaced by Size.
