AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a driver allegedly attempted to intimidate a cyclist in a suburb.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses after an incident involving a car and a cyclist in York earlier this week.

It took place on Livingstone Street in the Leeman Road area at around 5.12pm on Wednesday (September 30) and involved a silver Seat Leon.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We’re appealing for witnesses and information following a public order incident and an allegation of driving without due care and attention.

"It has been reported the silver vehicle has been driving dangerously, beeping its horn at the cyclist and driving close in an attempt to intimidate the cyclist."

Officers added they are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the vehicle in the area, or may have dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage that could assist the investigation.
