A MUCH-LOVED shop has announced that a fresh new York shop will be opening later this month – with freebies up for grabs.
HMV in Coney Street has revealed that it will be opening its doors again on Friday, October 23, with a giveaway of free ‘opening swag bags’ for the first 25 paying customers through their doors.
The media brand has been part of York’s high street since 1990 and survived several closure threats, including ‘closing soon’ signs in its windows in March 2019.

- Sneak peek after popular York city centre shop closes for 'TLC'As reported by The Press in August, signs in the windows of the media retailer stated that the shop will be closed from Monday, August 31 until late October.
A HMV spokesperson told The Press at the time: “HMV is excited to elevate the shopping experience at its York shop, temporarily closing to build a reimagined space designed to enhance the way customers discover more of what they love.
“While we are currently unable to share any further details, we will share more information nearer the time of reopening."
Although these details are yet to be revealed, the store appears to have been completely emptied as part of the renovation with all items stripped from the inside of the building.
