Man dies after car crashes into ditch on remote Yorkshire road

An elderly man has died after the car he was driving crashed into a ditch on a rural Yorkshire road.

North Yorkshire Police said the incident happened at around 5pm on Tuesday (Sep 29) on Malton Road between Little Edstone and Marton, near Kirkbymoorside.

Paramedics treated a 91-year-old man who had been driving a grey Volvo XC6o, but he died at the scene, police said.

The road was closed until around 10pm while the scene was investigated and the vehicle was recovered.

A statement from North Yorkshire Police said: “At this stage, it appears that the collision may have resulted from a medical episode. We are supporting the man’s family while the investigation continues.”
