A diversion is in place via Langton, however a number of motorists are continuing to use Bazley's Lane between Welham Road and Langton Road.

Cllr Keane Duncan, who represents Norton on North Yorkshire Council, said: "This route remains open, however there are safety concerns about the speed and volume of traffic. A temporary way, ‘slow’ signage and a 20mph restriction have been put forward as potential steps to improve the situation.

"HGVs should not be using this route and could be prosecuted if they do as the 7.5t restriction remains in force. They should use the official signed diversion via Langton."
