THE UK’s largest Asian-inspired fast food restaurant plans to open a branch at a popular Filey holiday park.

A new noodle takeaway will be opened at the Primrose Valley Holiday Village in Filey if plans are approved by North Yorkshire Council.

Chopstix, the largest Asian inspired quick serve restaurant chain in the UK, could soon be serving holidaymakers at the popular North Yorkshire park. The chain operates a network of more than 100 quick-service locations nationwide.

The application, by Haven Ltd, aims to diversify the food offer for visitors at the company’s flagship park in the North.

If approved, the takeaway unit would be established in a car park and would lead to the loss of five parking spaces.

“This will not have an impact on the wider parking opportunities given the existing alternative provision within the car park, and holidaymakers typically park their vehicles near their accommodation,” the holiday park said.

The takeaway unit will serve customers from the holiday park, diversifying the food offer for visitors.

“The positioning adjacent to the various other food outlets will ensure that the holidaymakers have a variety of food options in one place,” according to submitted plans.

Only holidaymakers staying at Primrose Valley Holiday Park will be able to use the site, meaning there will be “no increase in traffic or transport movements associated with the development”.

The Chopstix website states: “Noodles are cool, noodles are quirky, and noodles have helped us become the largest Asian inspired quick serve restaurant in the UK; no mean feat for the little guy!

“Belief in our noodles has helped us create our Chopstix family and inspired the simple foundations that we’ve built the brand upon.”

The proposed site is adjacent to the holiday park’s main facilities and complements the various other dining options, showroom, arcade, and public house.

No concerns about the proposal have been raised by the council’s ecologist, and the authority’s environmental protection officer said: “With reference to the above planning application, we have no adverse comments to make at this time on environmental health grounds.”

This “further investment by Haven into the Primrose Valley Holiday Park will enhance facilities and ensure that the park continues to provide modern facilities to meet changing demands,” the application states.

North Yorkshire Council has not set a date for deciding on the plans which are currently open to representations from members of the public.
