Beer lovers are in for a treat at a special festival at Wetherspoons in York and across the country.

Beer lovers are in for a treat at a special festival at Wetherspoons in York and around the region.

A 12-day cask ale event will run from October 7 to 18 at Wetherspoon pubs, including The Postern Gate in Piccadilly and The Punch Bowl in Blossom Street in York, and The Giant Bellflower in Gowthorpe in Selby.

Up to 30 cask ales will be on tap, including five international selections from China, Singapore, Ukraine, the USA and Denmark.

Nicola Hill, manager of The Punch Bowl, said: "The festival is a great celebration of cask ale.

"It will allow us to showcase a selection of superb beers, featuring many not previously available to our customers in the pub, including those from brewers as far afield as China and Ukraine, as well as those closer to home, over a 12-day period.

"All of the beers will be available at great value-for-money prices."

Most of the beers on offer have been brewed for the first time, exclusively for the festival, with prices ranging from £2.40 to £2.99 per pint.

Among the international offerings are Urbrew Oolong ESB from China, Mikkeller English Dream Pilsner from Denmark, Lion Mango IPA from Singapore, Varvar Session Golden Ale from Ukraine and UPP Liquids Pinball Wizard from the USA.

Other featured brews include Cairngorm Autumn Nuts, Otter Reggae, Loch Lomond Flying South, Oakham Dressed to Impress and Exmoor Red.

Five vegan-friendly beers will also be available.

A selection of three third-of-a-pint tasters will be offered for the price of a full pint.

Tasting notes will be provided in a festival magazine available in the pubs, with a digital version accessible through the Wetherspoon app and website.

All ales can be ordered at the bar or via the Wetherspoon app.

The national beer festival will also be held at Wetherspoons pubs in Wetherby, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Thirsk, Northallerton and other venues across the country.
