Firefighters were called to reports of a smell of smoke in a York home last night (Thursday).
They went to the incident in Rydal Avenue, Tang Hall, at** 8.40pm**.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews from Acomb and York responded to a report of a fire alarm sounding and a smell of smoke in a property.

“This was found to be caused by water leaking from the bath in the room above and through the detector.
“Crews disconnected mains powered smoke alarms and replaced with battery operated ones and gave advice to the occupants.”
