Jeff Stelling is set to swap football scores for a global adventure.

The broadcaster, who grew up in Hartlepool, will take part in the fourth series of Celebrity Race Across The World alongside his son Matt.

The BBC has revealed the line-up for the 2026 edition of the show, which will see contestants travel 7,500 kilometres from Kuching in Borneo to Melbourne in Australia without the use of phones, credit cards, or air travel.

Mr Stelling, a lifelong supporter of Hartlepool United, has often spoken about his love for the town and the club throughout his broadcasting career.

He returned to Hartlepool United as honorary president in February 2026, having previously held the role for more than nine years before resigning in May 2025.

His enthusiasm for Pools was a regular talking point during his long tenure as host of Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday.

He joined Sky in 1992 and began presenting Soccer Saturday in 1994, becoming one of the most recognisable figures in British football broadcasting before leaving the show in 2023.

Even off air, his Hartlepool roots have remained central to his identity.

Now, instead of keeping fans updated from a studio, he will take on a different kind of challenge.

Contestants on Celebrity Race Across The World must rely on local transport to complete the journey, travelling through Southeast Asia before reaching Australia.

Fans are used to hearing him talk about what’s happening elsewhere in the world of sport, but this time, viewers will watch as Stelling charts his own path across continents.
