A bin lorry caught fire in County Durham after discarded vapes and batteries ignited in the back of the vehicle.
The incident happened in Shildon on Friday morning (October 2), prompting a warning from Durham County Council about the dangers of disposing of batteries and vapes in household waste.
Pictures show flames and thick smoke pouring from the top of the bin lorry as crews dealt with the blaze.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident, but council officials say fires involving bin lorries are becoming increasingly common.
Durham County Council said: "Unfortunately, we've had another fire in one of our bin lorries in Shildon this morning that we are currently clearing.
"Thankfully there were no injuries to the crew, but these incidents are becoming more frequent."
The authority is urging residents not to place batteries, or disposable vapes in either rubbish or recycling bins.
Lithium batteries contained within many everyday items can ignite when crushed during the waste collection process, creating a significant fire risk for crews and vehicles.

The council said batteries and vapes can be left separately alongside food waste caddies for collection, provided they are bagged separately.
Residents can also take the items to battery and vape recycling points available at many supermarkets and community venues, as well as Household Waste Recycling Centres and dedicated collection points.
More information about battery and vape recycling can be found on the council's website.
