County Durham residents are being reminded to check the opening hours of their local household waste recycling centre before making a journey after winter timetables came into effect this week.
Durham County Council announced that all of its household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) have now moved to their winter opening arrangements, which run from October until March.
Most centres across the county, including Annfield Plain, Heighington, Hett Hills, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Potterhouse Lane, Romanway, Seaham, Stainton Grove and Tudhoe, are open daily from 9am to 3.30pm.
However, some centres operate different schedules.
HWRCs in Coxhoe, Horden and Thornley are open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, closed on Fridays, and open from 9am to 3.30pm at weekends.
Meanwhile, Frosterley HWRC continues to run on a much more limited basis.
The site only opens on selected Saturdays throughout the year, with opening hours between 9am and noon.
Upcoming dates include October 10 and 24, November 7 and 21, December 5 and 19, and January 2, 16 and 30.
In a social media post, the council said: "Please note that opening times for household waste recycling centres have now changed to the winter timetables. Check your local HWRC before you set off."
The council urged residents to check opening times before travelling because winter hours are shorter and some sites open only on specific days.
