Family patisserie Soigné celebrates opening of second Teesside bakery

Soigné is opening its long-awaited second bakery on Saturday (October 3), bringing pastries, speciality coffee and handcrafted bakes to Yarm High Street.

One of Teesside's most popular bakeries is opening its second shop after months of anticipation.

Soigné Bakery has announced that its new Yarm venue will open to customers at 9am on Saturday (October 3).

The new bakery will occupy the former Fourteen Drops wine bar on Yarm High Street following months of transformation work behind the scenes.

Father and son Stephen and Josh Palmer opened Soigné at Lowfields in Ingleby Barwick last May, quickly winning a loyal following for its pastries, croissants and speciality coffee.

Soigné was named as the new occupant of the former Fourteen Drops unit in June, sparking an enthusiastic response from the community.

Pronounced "swan-yay", Soigné takes its name from a French term meaning "elegantly made" or "carefully attended to".

The bakery says every pastry is handcrafted using carefully selected ingredients, including cultured butter from the Scottish Highlands, premium Canadian wheat flour and high-cocoa-content chocolate.

Stephen, whose career as a baker and pastry chef has taken him across Europe, teamed up with his son Josh to launch Soigné with a focus on traditional baking methods and top-quality ingredients.

The bakery will continue trading from its original Ingleby Barwick location alongside the new High Street venture.

Customers hoping to be among the first through the doors can visit the new Soigné Bakery in Yarm from 9am on Saturday.
