Plus, new upgrades to the A74 between Glasgow and Carlisle now make the journey to Newcastle International Airport even easier.

From the west, the A69 links with the A1 and then the A696, providing a direct route to Newcastle International Airport.

Plus, Newcastle International Airport is well connected to the North East rail network by the Metro service.

The journey from Newcastle Central Station to Newcastle Airport takes around 25 minutes.

Newcastle International Airport is jointly owned by seven North East local authorities and a subsidiary of Aena, the Spanish state-owned airport operator, following the completion of a deal earlier this year that brought Europe's largest airport group into the region.

More seats inside airport

450 extra seats have been added to the departure lounge as part of a major investment programme aimed at improving the customer experience.

The additional seating has been created through extensions to Burger King and Tap + Brew, giving travellers more space to relax, dine and enjoy views across the airfield from the terminal’s floor-to-ceiling windows.

The latest developments are part of almost £60 million invested in airport facilities over the last few years, with a focus on enhancing capacity and delivering what the airport describes as a “world-class passenger experience”.
