Fresh plans for a new village with 3,500 homes between York and Selby are due to go on show.
Developers are sharing their proposals for the new village, Heronby, which would be located on land owned by Escrick Park Estate, west of Escrick.
Escrick Park Estate’s plans for the development will be on show at the Escrick and Deighton Club, in Escrick, from 1.30pm to 7pm on Thursday, October 15.
Beilby Forbes-Adam, of Escrick Park Estate, said the development aims to help address the county’s housing shortage and the estate wants to hear from young people struggling to get on the property ladder about the plans.

The new plans by the estate come five years after proposals for Heronby were first shared.
An early masterplan for Heronby was drawn up as part of the former Selby Local Plan process in 2021, under Selby District Council.
North Yorkshire Council later halted work on a fresh Local Plan for Selby after it came to power and the targets for new houses trebled in the county.
Heronby had been earmarked as a key development to deliver long-term housing growth needs for the area up to 2040.
But North Yorkshire Council’s executive members were told in February 2024 that due to concerns raised about the highways impact of the new settlement, the proposals should be removed from the plan and further consultation undertaken.
It meant the process for the Heronby site stalled, but Escrick Park Estate said the plans remained on the table.

The estate last month revealed that steps are being taken to prepare for a new planning application for Heronby.
Escrick Park Estate said its project team has already submitted some details to North Yorkshire Council and will be considering feedback from the public, councils and other organisations before producing an outline planning application towards the end of the year.
If successful, homes would be ready by 2031 with the total 3,500 properties built over 30 years, along with two primary schools and one secondary school, according to the Heronby website.
There would also be 47 hectares of country park, a 30 per cent biodiversity net gain and the development would generate £1 billion of construction value for the local economy, the plans said.

Mr Forbes-Adam said the estate wants to create a “new North Yorkshire community, so we are keen to hear from young people who are likely to be the first people to move to Heronby”.
“We want to hear their ideas so hopefully we can shape the new community to meet their needs.
“They have been called the ‘limbo generation’ because they are stuck in limbo and can’t find a place where they can get on the housing ladder.”

He admitted that Heronby “won’t solve North Yorkshire’s housing crisis on its own, and it certainly won’t mean thousands of new homes arriving in just a couple of years”.
But he said the development “will set high standards and show what can be achieved by a rural estate such as Escrick Park when it comes to quality placemaking”.
“It won’t be simply housing. We will also deliver the infrastructure – the schools, play areas, retail outlets, leisure and other facilities – that people need every day.”
