A motorist caught using his mobile phone while driving in the city centre has been banned from the roads for six months.
The offence was not the first time Miles Salter had broken the law in his car, Harrogate magistrates heard.
Salter, 54, of Lime Avenue, off Stockton Lane, pleaded guilty to driving on Monkgate on February 3 while using a hand-held mobile phone.
Magistrates heard that he already had penalty points on his licence.
They added six points, the standard penalty for the offence, and because that took him to more than 11 points, disqualified him under the totting-up system.
He was also fined £384 and ordered to pay £120 prosecution costs and a £154 statutory surcharge.
