York garden centre giving away Christmas trees to schools and nurseries

Dobbies, in partnership with Needlefresh, will donate five Nordmann Fir trees through its annual Community Christmas Tree campaign.

A garden centre is giving away Christmas trees to help schools and nurseries spread some festive cheer.

Dobbies, in partnership with Needlefresh, will donate five Nordmann Fir trees through its annual Community Christmas Tree campaign, giving educational settings the chance to create seasonal displays for the local community.

Nigel Lawton, plant buyer at Dobbies, said: "We’re proud to continue our Community Christmas Tree campaign and support schools and nurseries across the country as they prepare for the festive season.

"A real Christmas tree can become a focal point for celebrations, encouraging children to come together and take part in festive activities.

"We look forward to seeing how this year’s recipients make the most of their trees and the positive impact they have on their communities."

Schools and nurseries within 20 miles of the York store can apply for a tree before the deadline of 5pm on Thursday, November 5.

Successful applicants will collect their tree at Dobbies’ Charity Christmas Shopping Night in York on Thursday, November 26, an event supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Dobbies will also host a Christmas Preview Evening on Thursday, October 15, staying open until 7pm and offering discounts on trees, lights, baubles, and selected pet products.
