‘Come dressed in your favourite vintage era’: Bankfield Museum and House of Foxy Vintage Fashion Extravaganza

The House of Foxy takes to the catwalk at Bankfield Museum in Halifax this Saturday with a fashion show celebrating 50 years of vintage style and exploring the evolution of fashion from 1926 to 1976.

Expect changing silhouettes in daywear and eveningwear, fabulous details and plenty of fashion history along the way.

Established in 2010, House of Foxy is a Yorkshire-based fashion brand that specialises in reproduction clothing based on designs from the 1920s to the 1970s.

It began life selling reproduction clothing made by a variety of vintage specialist brands, after founder and creative director Clarissa Nuttall, who was a hobbyist jive and swing dancer, realised that there was a gap in the market for retro-style designs that fit modern women.

In 2012, she launched her own house collection from her design studio and business HQ in Elland.

Clarissa says: “As well as two fashion shows, there will be vintage fashion and artisan maker stalls - all from the local area – and some music/dancing. We are hoping it will be a real celebration of our textile heritage and promote Bankfield to a wider audience.”

Bankfield says this is absolutely an excuse to dress up, adding: “Come in your favourite era, bring your vintage loving friends, take photographs and meet fellow fashion enthusiasts.

There is no admission charge for the Vintage Fashion Extravaganza, which promises to be a fun and fascinating opportunity to discover vintage fashion, local history and Bankfield Museum.

Celebrate vintage fashion with House of Foxy is on Saturday, October 3, 10am to 3pm, Bankfield Museum.
