The re-opening of a much-loved York pub has been delayed yet again.

Alison and Gary Clarkson have taken on the reins of the Trafalgar Bay on Nunnery Lane.

The pub was due to reopen on Tuesday September 29, but was delayed due to needing a new dishwater and other issues.

The pub was then due to re-open tomorrow (Friday), but it now faces “equipment failures” in the cellar.

Alison told the Press that the pub will not reopen until the week of Monday October 12 at the earliest.

Part of the reason for the delay, she explained, is that Sam Smith’s brewery is reopening so many pubs across the country, its contractors are too busy to do the work immediately.

However, the pub is still preparing for the re-opening, with Facebook reporting on how a cleaning company has everything, including the pub’s signage, all clean and shiny.

Alison added: “I’m looking forward to getting it open. I’m getting bored waiting.”

As the Press has previously reported, the Tadcaster-based brewery has reopened other pubs in the area recently.

These include the Wellington Inn on Alma Terrace, Fishergate; the Tankard Inn at Rufforth, the Ebor Inn at Bishopthorpe and the Angel & White Horse in Tadcaster.

The Press also understands that, subject to the completion of renovations and repairs, The York Arms in High Petergate is due to reopen in January.
