A local theatre company is set to perform Arthur Miller's classic play, Death of a Salesman.

The 1812 Theatre Company will present the play at the Helmsley Arts Centre on Thursday, October 15, Friday, October 16, and Sunday, October 18, at 7.30pm.

There will also be a matinee performance on Saturday, October 17, at 2.30pm.

Death of a Salesman focuses on the last 24 hours in the life of Willy Loman, a salesman striving for the 'American Dream,' witnessing the breakdown of his family, friend, and work relationships.

The role of Willy Loman will be played by Andy Studdart, marking his first appearance with the company.

Two other significant characters, Sam Hughes, playing Willy's wife Linda, and Dylan Canton, playing Happy, will also be making their debut with the company.

Jonathan Lewis, a local drama teacher, plays Biff, Willy's other son.

The play, set mainly in the 1940s, is known for its clever and layered narrative, with Willy having idealised memories of happier times in the 1930s.

Tickets and further information about the performances can be found on the Helmsley Arts Centre's website.
