A care home in York has welcomed a host of furry, feathered and spiky visitors as part of a sensory animal experience.
A total of 24 residents at Mossdale Residence in Burnholme enjoyed the visit from The Purple Pig Company, which brought a variety of animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, an owl, a hedgehog and rats.
Pauline Hagan, wellbeing co-ordinator at Mossdale Residence, said: "It was wonderful to see the smiles on our residents’ faces as they spent time with the animals.
"For many, it brought back lovely memories of pets they had when they were younger, and it gave everyone plenty to talk about.
"It was a really special afternoon."
Residents were able to hold, stroke and interact with the animals in a relaxed and welcoming environment, with many sharing stories about pets from their past.
The session was led by Rachel from The Purple Pig Company, alongside wellbeing co-ordinators Pauline Hagan and Julie Infield.
