Asda shoppers in Bradford have been warned to stop using a product sold at supermarkets across the UK because of a safety risk that can cause damage to reproductive systems.
The supermarket giant is voluntarily recalling the product and has apologised to customers for “any inconvenience caused”.
The affected product is a Front Pocket XBody Bag with a product code of 1100265415001.
It has been recalled because it may contain phthalates exceeding the permitted limit.
Certain phthalates, including Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), are subject to regulatory restrictions because prolonged exposure above specified limits may pose potential health risks and possibly cause damage to the reproductive system.
At the time of shipment the product had passed all safety tests, however subsequent testing identified the issue.
Asda said that there had been no safety incidents currently reported but were recalling the bag as a “precautionary measure”.
A statement said: “While no safety incidents have been reported, we are taking this action to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and to maintain our commitment to consumer safety.
“If you have purchased this bag, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.
“If you would like any further information please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0330 053 0111.”

Tesco recall
Tesco shoppers have been told to stop using a product immediately after safety concerns sparked a recall across UK supermarkets.
The supermarket giant has warned customers not to use the F&F Home Glass Latte Mug sold in stores across the country because of a “manufacturing issue”.
All batches of the mug sold between September 2025, and August 2026 are impacted by the recall.
The manufacturing issue means the glass is prone to breaking during “normal use”, potentially injuring shoppers.
A Tesco statement said: “As a precautionary measure, Tesco is recalling all batches of its F&F Home Glass Latte Mug purchased between September 2025 to August 2026 inclusive.
“This is due to a manufacturing issue that may cause the glass mug to break during normal use, posing a risk of injury.
“If you have purchased the product affected, please do not use it and instead return it to any Tesco store for a full refund.
“No receipt is required. Use our store locator to find your nearest Tesco UK or Tesco Ireland store.
“If you need more information, you can find a range of ways to get in touch via our contact us page.
“If you are in Ireland, please contact Tesco Customer Services on 1800 248 123.
“No other Tesco products are affected by this recall. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
