Patients are benefiting from new treatments and quicker care thanks to innovation in nasal care.

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is leading the way in treatment for chronic sinus and nose allergy conditions.

Bradford Royal Infirmary now offers targeted immunotherapy tablets for allergic rhinitis and biologic injections for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps.

Sandeep Mistry, ENT consultant and rhinology specialist, said: "We’re continually looking at new treatments, research opportunities and innovation, to offer new and better treatments for patients who suffer from debilitating nasal symptoms from conditions like sinusitis and allergies that effect the nose and sinuses.

"I’m pleased that we can now give patients more convenient and cutting-edge long-term treatments with the hope of further new drugs for chronic sinusitis with polyps and allergies in the future."

Bradford is now the only centre in Yorkshire offering radiofrequency turbinate reduction, a procedure that shrinks swollen nasal tissue to improve breathing.

The treatment can be performed in clinic rooms, freeing up theatre space and reducing wait times.

In 2024, the trust launched an ENT-led immunotherapy service for allergic rhinitis, with shared care options allowing patients to begin treatment in hospital and continue follow-up prescriptions through their GP.
