A ONE-DAY festival celebrating Black arts and culture is set to take place this October.

BRAVE Presents will be held at Bradford Arts Centre on October 17 from 3pm to 8.30pm and is organised by the team behind the BRAVE Festival.

The event will feature a mix of live music, dance, spoken word, drumming, storytelling and creative workshops for adults, children and families.

Tricia Arthur-Stubbs, festival director, said: "The difficult parts of Black history are important and need to be understood, but they are not the whole story.

"BRAVE was created because I wanted people to experience Black history and culture in a positive, joyful and creative way."

Workshops will include rap, Jamaican dancehall, Gambian dance, live looping, Nigerian head wrapping, and African drumming.

Evening performances will include the open-mic-style BRAVE Finale, including acoustic singer Martin Scott, spoken-word artist Mofetoluwa Fasanya, rapper D3, and musician Dan Loops.

BRAVE stands for Black Roots and Voices Expressed.

The full two-day festival returns every other year and will be back in 2027.

Tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can basis, starting from £1.

Attendees must book separate tickets for workshops and the evening show.
