Drivers are being urged to plan ahead as a number of roads across Stockton are closed today for highway improvement works.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is carrying out road-preservation treatment as part of its annual highways maintenance programme.
The treatment applies a protective layer to the road surface, helping to prevent water damage and extend the life of the carriageway.
The following roads are affected today:
- Cambrian Road, Billingham: closed from 9.30am to 3.30pm
- Frome Road, Stockton: closed from 9.30am to 3.30pm
- Fontwell Close, Stockton: closed from 2pm to 6pm
- Chilton Close, Stockton: closed from 2pm to 6pm
- Honey Way, Stockton: closed from 7pm until midnight
The council said pedestrians and emergency vehicles will still have access throughout the works.

But residents will not be able to drive on the affected roads until the treatment has been applied and fully cured.
Officials say the quick, cost-effective treatment protects roads and delays the need for major, disruptive repairs.
Residents and motorists should allow extra time and avoid the affected routes where possible.
