A North East engineering network has teamed up with a leading aerospace alliance to open new opportunities for manufacturers across the region.
The Engineering & Manufacturing Network (EMN) has partnered with the North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) to help regional SMEs reach new markets and strengthen their supply chains.
Richard Bradley, chair of EMN, said: "This partnership is about creating practical, valuable connections for manufacturers across the North.
"By working with NWAA, we can help our members access new conversations, new markets and new opportunities in aerospace, defence and space, while continuing to champion the peer-led support and regional collaboration that sit at the heart of EMN."
EMN supports engineering and manufacturing SMEs across the North East with peer support, practical advice, supply-chain links and regional advocacy.
NWAA represents a significant share of the UK aerospace sector and supports businesses in aerospace, defence, space, security, advanced engineering and manufacturing.
Members of each organisation will become affiliates of the other, giving them access to member-only events at discounted member rates.
The groups will also explore joint conferences, expos and supply-chain events.
The partnership will give EMN members more opportunities in aerospace, defence and space, including links with Tier 1 suppliers, OEMs and prime contractors.
It will give NWAA members a higher profile in the North East and stronger links with the region’s SMEs.
Paula Gill, CEO of NWAA, said: "NWAA is committed to strengthening supply chains and creating opportunities for aerospace, defence and space businesses across the North.

"Working with EMN gives us a strong platform to connect with North East manufacturers, encourage cross-sector collaboration and support growth across a wider northern industrial base."
The partnership will also give NWAA members access to the SC21 and Watchtower programmes.
Both organisations will continue their core work while developing joint projects and exploring a wider Northern Networks Alliance.
