Independent Knaresborough High Street Business Marks Two Decades of Trading

Aimes Health & Beauty is marking its 20th year of business inKnaresborough this month, reflecting a broader trend of resilience among independent service providers on the local high street.

Established by local entrepreneur Amy in 2006, the venture originally launched as a modest operation featuring two treatment rooms. Over the past twenty years, the enterprise has expanded significantly, scaling its physical footprint to its own dedicated premises. The current facility incorporates four treatment units, alongside specialised spaces for nail care and spray tanning, operated by a team of trained local practitioners.

The business’s trajectory reflects the wider economic shifts encountered by the UK high street over the last two decades. Independent firms have had to navigate consecutive structural challenges, notably the 2008 financial crisis and the protracted trading disruptions brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. For service-driven entities dependent entirely on face-to-face interaction, public health lockdowns required significant operational adaptation to survive.

Amy:

We’re incredibly proud of how much Aimes has grown over the past 20 years, but what means the most is the people who have been part of that journey.

From our amazing clients to the team who have helped us along the way, we’re so grateful for all the support we’ve had over the years. We’re really looking forward to celebrating with everyone.

In response to changing consumer preferences, the business has adjusted its focus over time towards skincare infrastructure and general well-being services, recently forming a commercial partnership with cosmetic brand VOYA.
