A MUCH-LOVED North Yorkshire town pub is to close for over five weeks to undergo a “full transformation.”

The Tap on the Tutt in Boroughbridge announced the news on social media this week.

The pub, which in May was taken over by Punch Pubs & Co in May, posted on Facebook: “We are closing Sunday 18th October 2026 for a full transformation.

“Re-opening Tuesday, November 24 with food seven days a week, fresh pub classics and affordable family offers.

“Thank you for your patience - we can't wait to welcome you back.”

A spokesman for Punch pubs confirmed the re-opening date and promised more details and photos nearer the time.

The Tap on the Tutt was previously owned by Simon Wade who has other pubs in the area.

They are the Fox and Hounds at Langthorpe, the Blue Bell Inn at Arkendale, the Grantham Arms at Milby and the Punch Bowl Inn at Marton cum Grafton.

Prior to Simon taking over the Tap on the Tutt in 2023 and giving it a lavish refurbishment, the Grade II-listed pub was known as The Three Horseshoes.

In recent weeks, the Tap on the Tutt announced it has appeared in the 2027 Good Beer Guide from CAMRA, which followed it being named by Harrogate CAMRA as the 2026 Country Pub of the Year.

It has also been recruiting for chefs and cooks, for a mid-November start.
