Amanda Owen and her family are set to tackle one of the biggest practical challenges yet in the restoration of Anty John's.

The Owens have spent years bringing the centuries-old farmhouse back to life.

But the fourth series of Our Farm Next Door will show them attempting to introduce something the property has never had before – a piped water supply.

Wise Owl Films, the production company behind the show, described the work as "one of the project's most significant milestones".

The company said the family will attempt to bring the supply "across the moors and into the house for the first time".

The job will be made more difficult by the weather.

The series was filmed during winter 2025 and spring 2026, with harsh conditions creating further problems as work continues.

The challenge underlines just how remote Anty John's is.

Tasks which would be relatively straightforward in a more conventional renovation can become major undertakings in the Swaledale landscape.

The water supply is particularly important because the project is moving closer to the point where the building can be used as a home.

Wise Owl Films said the farmhouse's plastered walls are now finally dry.

That allows floorboards to arrive, painting to begin and furniture to be brought into individual rooms.

Clive and the Owen children are expected to continue helping with the work.

The family is also beginning to make decisions about the character of the finished interior.

Amanda and some of the children will travel to Beamish Museum to get ideas for a cupboard bed which the younger girls want built inside the house.

By the end of the series, the building is expected to have reached another important stage.

Amanda and the girls will prepare for their first sleepover there.

Our Farm Next Door returns to More4 on Monday, October 5.
