A former York College student has led a Welsh esports club to national glory just over a year after joining the team.
Connor Chittock, 19, from Acomb, became Rocket League head coach at Brecon-based S.E.A. Dragons in July 2025.
Since then, he has guided the team to domestic success in Wales and was promoted to Rocket League director and minority owner earlier this year.
His biggest achievement came on September 26 at the RAF Museum in London, where the Dragons took home the BFBS Pro League Season 2 title after three months of qualifying matches.
Mr Chittock said: "We can't believe it.
"It's been impossible to call things with shock matches throughout the competition."
The Dragons staged a dramatic comeback in the grand final, defeating top-seeded BAES Buzzards, who represent British Army Esports, with four straight wins after falling 2-0 behind.
Mr Chittock’s coaching style prioritised match analysis over traditional scrimmage-heavy routines.
While most Rocket League teams train for 10 to 15 hours a week, the Dragons sometimes spent as little as one hour on practice games, focusing instead on video reviews and tactical insights.
Patryk Białowąs, team principal at S.E.A. Dragons, said: "Connor was one of the first people we trusted to build the competitive side of the club, and what he's achieved at 19 in such a short period has been incredible.
"We have always been heavily focused on analysis, but Connor has found his own balance between that traditional sports approach and competitive gaming."
Mr Chittock developed his coaching career at York College before moving to London to study at the University College of Esports.
In just over a year, he has gone from student coach to national champion, director, and minority owner — cementing his place as a rising star in the esports industry.
