A BURST pipe is continuing to leak water onto a stretch of main road in York city centre.
The incident, which was first reported on Saturday (September 26), is affecting an area surrounding a drain in Piccadilly.
Cones and a barrier have been placed around the section of road, which leads onto a footpath.
One 65-year-old resident, who didn’t want to be named, told The Press: "Water has been bubbling away on this road for days.
"I noticed it first on Saturday evening, and on Monday saw the road marked with YW in blue paint, so I was surprised tonight (Wednesday, September 30) to not see it fixed.
"I wonder how much water is being wasted and what damage is being done to the road surface.
"Not long ago a leak led to mayhem at the bottom of Piccadilly as the road was closed and traffic was rerouted, causing massive tailbacks and congestion for days."
The Press has contacted Yorkshire Water for comment.
